The World Tang Soo Do Association has its headquarters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., but it exists on every continent, in the many countries of the world. The WTSDA can be considered as large family of martial artists with one common goal, the study and practice of Tang Soo Do, a Traditional Korean Martial Art with its origins founded over 2000 years ago. At the head of our organistion is Grandmaster Jae C Shin who left Korea and came to America in 1968, he formed the United States Tang So Do Federation, which in 1982 became the World Tang Soo Do Association when at the Charter Convention Master Jae C. Shin was recognised as Grandmaster of the Association.

 

In Great Britain the Association is led by Master Mujahid Khan who is also the Regional Director for Region 11 (Europe). The Association has its British headquarters in Huntingdon Cambridgeshire, but has instructors running clubs in London, Bristol, the Midlands, Derbyshire, the North, and Cambridgeshire itself, where the style has a very strong following.

 

Each individual club will be taught by an Association approved instructor with the minimum rank of Cho Dan (1st) and all students attend a regional testing to progress from one grade to the next. These occasions are held quarterly where the students are tested by the Masters  of the Association.

 

Students in the Association will learn many aspects of the martial arts, and although Tang Soo Do is a predominantly kicking style it is very rounded by the fact that included in its syllabus are kicking,blocking, punching, hyungs (patterns), self defence, fighting, weapons (at higher grade). A core part of our association is the etiquette which is taught in every class, the discipline, humility, integrity, respect, self control so often missing from today’s society.
